Dr. David Mahalick is a Board Certified Clinical Neuropsychologist. He specializes in both Pediatric and Adult Clinical Neuropsychology. He is currently in full-time private practice. His main office is located in Maplewood, New Jersey.
Dr. Mahalick was previously the Director of the Neuropsychology Service for the Department of Neurological Surgery and, prior to that, for the Department of Psychiatry at New Jersey Medical School. He has served as the Director of the Department of Neuropsychology/Psychology at Children's Specialized Hospital-Mountainside, New Jersey from 1989 through 1994.
He is an Associate Professor of Applied Psychology at New York University (adjunct), Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery & Pediatrics at New Jersey Medical School and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He has served as a grant reviewer for the National Institute of Health.
Dr. Mahalick completed his Internships in both Pediatric and Adult Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of California- San Diego in the Departments of Neurological Surgery and Neurology. He conducted his Residency training in the Department of Neurology at Hahnemann University Hospital-Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Mahalick is the author of numerous publications concerning pediatric and adult traumatic brain injury, arteriovenous malformations, psychopharmacology, etc. He has participated as an invited speaker, both nationally and internationally, on topics involving pediatric and adult neurobehavioral dysfunction. He has served on the Board of Trustees for both the NJ Academy of Psychology and the NJ Neuropsychological Society and maintains memberships in numerous professional/academic societies serving patients with neurologic impairment.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Mahalick dedicates a portion of his time to medicolegal consultation for both plaintiff and defense attorneys (e.g., generally equal amounts). In addition, he has provided consultation in criminal matters for the Department of Justice, State Attorney General Offices, Public Defenders Offices, and, at times, as an independent expert for judges.
The doctor’s main office is located in Maplewood, New Jersey (please direct all communications to this address). He maintains additional locations that are geographically convenient for those traveling in the tri-state area; these include: Midtown Manhattan, Somerville, New Jersey, and Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The doctor will also, on occasion, examine patients out of state.
Dr. Mahalick is a co-principal of the Neurobehavioral Institute of NJ, an outpatient neurotrauma rehabilitation center located in Somerville, NJ. He holds attending staff privileges at various hospitals in the metropolitan New York area. He has appeared as a guest on Court TV providing expert commentary on matters involving brain trauma and related topics. |
